Name: Pamela Metcalfe
Character Name: Celes
Shard: Great Lakes
Pamela Metcalfe always had a thing for “bad boys,” an obsession that was exacerbated when she started playing Ultima Online. It was in Britannia that she met the cool, calculating, mischievous creatures known as Player Killers—they were the baddest of them all. But even after falling in with a “rough crow,” dating the most infamous PK on her server was anything but drama-free.
“If someone killed me while I was hunting, I could send my boyfriend out to hunt them down and kill them,” she said. “Our dates consisted of attending massacres of players who had gathered around the latest hotspot. I sat there cheering on the sidelines while my beau performed acrobatic death movements across the killing field.”
When the pair wasn’t watering Britannia’s vegetation with the blood of their enemies, they switched over to blue characters and stood regally at the Moonglow bank. There, they were showered with compliments by friends and foes alike.
Everything was going swimmingly for the power couple. That is, until one day when Metcalfe arrived at the Moonglow bank to find a female named “Goddess” standing next to her boyfriend … in her place.
“She was clearly a new player,” Metcalfe said. “She didn’t even have clothes yet, and with a name like ‘Goddess,’ how serious could she be? I immediately hated her and started taking note of her frequent out of town hangout spots. It wasn’t long until I saw her stumble down the steps of Terathan Keep.”
Metcalfe had a bone to pick with Goddess and she used every opportunity to pick it.
“It was like shooting fish in a barrel,” Metcalfe said. “I can’t tell you how many times I killed her. Sometimes I’d resurrect her just to kill her again. I think she eventually got the hint that I had a personal vendetta toward her, so we took the fight to ICQ.”
It was during these heated exchanges that the girls discovered that the man they were fighting over was dating both of them.
